What educators are saying

This activity really provided a great deal of background information to explain the Magna Carta to students. My classes also were very easily able to relate this to the US Constitution as a result. I recommend.
Great resource for explaining the Magna Carta and its importance. My only suggestion would be to add a compare and contrast worksheet with other important documents like the Declaration of Independence.

Description

In this Magna Carta lesson plan, students examine the Magna Carta to learn the major Constitutional principles of limited government, shared power, individual rights, and the rule of law before engaging in a primary source analysis. Once students understand these four principles, students turn their attention to excerpts from the Magna Carta and try to find what principle is at work. This Magna Carta lesson is always a hit with my students!

This Middle Ages lesson is included in the larger Middle Ages Unit Bundle located here!

This resource includes a paper in-class version and a 1:1 Google compatible version to be used in conjunction with Google Classroom. Just follow the included instructions for how to access the Google version, then share the resource through Google or assign via Google Classroom. This will allow students to type directly into the document!

Enjoy!
