Description
Seven brain teasers your students will love! Use as bellringers, early finishers, transition activities, enrichment, or as a part of your emergency sub plans. Students employ math skills and logic to solve these. For instance, they use clues such as, "...the person that ran the fastest did the fewest sit-ups..." or "Regina’s points and rebounds combined were five less than Brittani’s points and rebounds."
There are three different basketball puzzles, one softball, one flag football, a fitness theme, and a track meet medals challenge. Sold separately, these puzzles would cost over $9 - buy the bundle and save!
The fitness challenge logic puzzle also asks students to complete two writing prompts. Students are asked to determine who won the fitness challenge and to support their claim with evidence. There are multiple right answers to the prompt, so students will have to consider the evidence and make an argument for one group or the other.
While these puzzles have a sports theme, don't let that fool you into thinking they are only applicable in a PE class - they are great for developing critical thinking and logic skills in any classroom environment! These puzzles are probably most suited for grades 6 - 8; younger students could complete this with some support, older students will still enjoy the challenge - they'll just finish a bit sooner :)
Where space allows, I included each puzzle as 2-up to save paper; in addition, each puzzle comes in two versions for printing: one with blank space for working, and one with a logic grid. There is a separate page with the two writing prompts.
Of course, answer keys are also included :)
