Description
This resource contains 36 listening files with comprehension activities to use with your class year-round with QR codes!
All of these passages are included in my monthly Close Reading units. You will find that the audio files might be more relevant if you choose to use them during their corresponding month. Please refer to the chart at the bottom of this product description for a list of passages by month.
Although these are the audio files of passages of my existing Close Reading units, you do not need to purchase these units to enjoy the listening center. This is a stand-alone resource that works well on its own. If you already have my Close Reading units, this would make a fantastic addition to what you already have! The 3 comprehension questions for each listening comprehension activity are different, so they are not reused from the comprehension page in the Close Reading units.
If you do not already own my Close Reading units, you can find free samples, individual units, and the large bundle in my TpT store by clicking the link below;

*Please note that this resource only includes the audio files. The written reading passages are included in my Close Reading Units.
USING THIS RESOURCE
QR codes are super easy ways to access sound files! You could use this during whole-group instruction or during centers. All you’ll need is a tablet or a smartphone and the comprehension pages that I made for you.
First, you’ll need to install a QR reader on your device. There are many free ones out there. I happen to have one called QR Scanner and it’s very easy to use. You or your students will open the QR Scanner app and hover it over the QR code on the top of the comprehension page I created. Doing so will cause a sound file to automatically open on your device. All you have to do is push play and enjoy listening to the passage.
I encourage students to jot down some notes while listening, or even make some quick doodles. This helps them stay engaged while listening. It might also help students to pre-read the reading comprehension questions ahead of time so they can set a purpose for reading.
