Nine 11x8.5" posters, illustrating how the names of the eight planets in our solar system (seven planets plus dwarf planet Pluto) come from Roman mythology.

Each poster includes:

  • Illustrations
  • English and Latin names for the planet
  • Latin and Greek names for the god/goddess
  • Whether the planet was known to the Romans or discovered later

Possible uses:

  • Short presentation to students of Latin OR astronomy
  • Bulletin board display in Latin classroom or science classroom

Purpose:

  • To emphasize connections between Latin and other subjects
  • To encourage interest in Greco-Roman mythology
