What educators are saying
Description
This resource has been designed around the Japanese song of the same name and makes a great inclusion to Early Years Japanese programs.
The song has
very limited vocabulary,
is repetitive,
allows for the use of gestures, and
has a simple tune,
all factors which make it easy for young students to learn.
The song introduces the names of 4 animals and the sounds they make. More importantly, the names of the animals are in SHIRITORI order ie. The last syllable of the first word is the first syllable of the next word, and so on. This pattern enables young students to ‘read’ the animal names quite readily.
A wide variety of supporting resources is included to add variety to consolidation tasks. Teachers may pick and choose those best suited to their own cohorts.
A video clip I made is also included using the same clipart. It has no sound, but students could sing along.
Teaching suggestions and game explanations are included. ( A step by step teaching sequence is NOT included).
Please note: the animal sounds have been presented in hiragana ( rather than the more usual katakana).
NOTE: This resource is not to be shared with others as it is for single teacher use. Colleagues can be directed to purchase a license at a discounted price.
