Description

May 5th is Children's Day ( Kodomo no hi ) in Japan and families display koinobori ( carp streamers ) to celebrate this Japanese festival. Your students will love displaying their own coloured koinobori art!

Various Japanese traditional patterns are designed on the printable colouring sheets and learners can experience Japanese culture collaborating with classmates.

This will be a beautiful wall decoration for your classroom to celebrate Children’s Day!

■ How to use

*Please check the instructions in the video preview .

You will need: colour pen/pencils, scissors, glue/tape, and a large size paper

Please plan how many colouring sheets you need to print depending on your class size.

  1. Colour and cut out the coloring sheets.
  2. Glue the sheets on a large size paper to form a koinobori.

Options

  • Origami houses will be a good additional decoration. (Origami instruction video link is included in the file.)
  • You can make one long and one short koinobori to represent parent and child koinobori.
  • You can use the blank sheets for your students to create their own designs.
