Description

This brief slideshow and guided notes for the HIPPCO threats to biodiversity (Habitat loss, Invasive species, Population increase, Pollution, Climate change, Overharvesting) is a great starting point for classes studying a loss of biodiversity around the Earth. The easy-to-follow slides give a short definition for each term, examples of that topic, and a video dealing with the topic linked in each slide. The videos are all relatively short, can be found on YouTube, and are great for whole class discussions. They are interesting and thought-provoking, and really get students talking! At the very end of the slide set is a short writing prompt for students to tell you their opinion on which threat is most dangerous, most reversible, and which they would put money towards to help if they had the option. The questions would make for an easy exit ticket or could alternatively be turned into discussion questions for small groups.

This product also includes a set of guided notes with fill in the blanks, which can be used as accommodations for students with IEPs, 504s, those who struggle with English, or students who take notes slowly.
