Description
Graphing Linear Equations Quilt Project
I have created this project as a fun way to get my kids excited about graphing lines. I have always found that including art and coloring with math gets kids a bit more excited about learning and as an added bonus- they look great as classroom decorations when finished!
These quilts focus on accuracy when graphing diagonal lines along with vertical and horizontal lines.
This is a 100 point project that includes: directions for the students, a sheet for the students with the necessary equations to show their work, a blank sheet of graph paper, a rubric, a fully worked out answer sheet , and a sample of what the colored quilt should look like when completed.
The steps are to find the slope and y intercept of the given equations and then graph the lines (with a ruler) on the provided coordinate plane.
The next step is to then fill in the given x's and y's into your equations to find ordered pairs and check the graph's accuracy.
The students then get to color the quilt and mount the graph and sheet with work shown on construction paper to be graded. I hope you and your students enjoy this.
*If you would like a more challenging graph check out: Graphing Linear Equations Quilt- version 2. (standard form, point slope & slope intercept form.) *
