Description

An hour lesson plan good for elementary classroom teachers, art teachers alike! All you need is painting paper, construction paper, colored chalk, black markers, straws and paint! This is an art lesson based on children's literature. The lesson begins by reading "There's a Nightmare in My Closet", by Mercer Mayer and ends with children sharing creative stories based on their artwork.

An 31 page Powerpoint presentation takes you step-by-step through how to complete the lesson, including student process photos and kids finished artwork.

There is a link to the video of the book being read by Billy Crystal for teachers who do not own this book as well as a link to a free worksheet of different monster parts.

A three page lesson plan created in Word based on State Standards for Visual Art is also included.
