FRENCH WINTER GAMES VOCABULARY, ACTIVITIES & DIGITAL - JEUX D'HIVER 2022 BEIJING

This file includes a total of 44 French vocabulary cards and 12 activities with regards to the winter games. These are a lot of fun to do before and during the Olympics. These are available in two formats: a printable version and a digital version on Google Slides. There are 16 vocabulary cards for the winter sports (4 per page) and 28 vocabulary cards with the name of equipment used during winter sports (4 per page). I also included blank cards in the event that you wish to add a few of your own words.

Here is a list of the 12 activities included in this file:

1) Meet the Star poster (Je vous présente l'olympien/l'olympienne)

2) Medal count chart (Nombre de médailles)

3) Create a mascot poster (Ma mascotte)

4) Write a letter of encouragement to an athlete

5) Write a letter to congratulate an athlete on their accomplishments

6) Word association worksheet: Students will read several French vocabulary words related to winter sports. They must then determine whether the word relates to a sport played on ice, on snow or both and correctly write the word in the right column of the table.

7) Brief research activity about a country participating in the winter games

8) Winter Sports A-Z

9) Invent a Winter Sport and provide an explanation of the rules

10) The pros and cons of hosting the winter games

11) If I were in the winter games...

12) Website scavenger hunt

This package is great because you can use it every 4 years, since it is not specific to the 2018 Olympics. You can use this package before, during and after the Olympics. It is a great way to get students excited about the Olympics and be proud of where they come from. You can also use the vocabulary cards from year to year during the winter season.

The 16 winter sports vocabulary cards include:
