What educators are saying

The powerpoint is an excellent resource to review the elements of drama and keep the students engaged. I look forward to continuing to use this product.
The students enjoyed the example drama. The comprehension questions addressed the characteristics of dramas and required students to really think.

    Description

This bundle contains a 39-slide PowerPoint and a packet of two practice assessments that focuses on drama elements and script comprehension. Dramas have their own set of unique terms, and are written in a specific, exclusive format. Therefore, students often benefit from explicit instruction that focuses on this literary genre. Students are given multiple opportunities to make inferences and draw conclusions about the structure and elements of drama and to provide evidence from the text to support their understanding. These two resources are aligned with TEKS and Common Core standards and are designed to prepare your students for dramas that they might encounter on standardized tests.

    • The Elements of Drama PowerPoint begins by defining drama-specific terms. Then, it features three unique scripts that are followed by multiple-choice comprehension questions. This file also contains a companion handout. You get to choose between the printable companion handout or the Google Slides version. Students write/type on the handout, recording their answers, as you advance through the PowerPoint.

    • The two practice assessments are designed to provide a follow-up activity for your students. I made them available in both a digital format (Google Slides and Easel Activity) or a printable format. You choose the format that works best for your students.
      • Practice Assessment #1: The setting of this 2.5-page script alternates between a classroom and a home. In this script, Max is behaving poorly for the substitute teachers, so his grandma (a retired teacher) shows up to substitute. This script is followed by 10 multiple-choice questions.
      • Practice Assessment #2: The setting of this 2.5-page script is a campground. In this script, Brooklyn and Nate are not pleased when their dad brings his high-maintenance girlfriend to camp with them. This script is followed by 11 multiple-choice questions.

***PLEASE NOTE!!*** The passages in the printable packet are the same as the passages in the digital packet!

I encourage you to check out the PREVIEW of each individual resource!

Here's what teachers like you have to say about using this elements of drama bundle with their students:

⭐️ Amanda R. said, "This was exactly what I needed to help actually teach about drama. The examples and practice were engaging. My students learned so much and had fun doing it."

⭐️ Devonne J. said, "This resource was engaging and saved me time! After a mini-lesson on the elements of drama, I used this resource as additional practice and review before a summative assessment. It was perfect! The phrasing of the questions aligned with the standards. I will definitely use this again!"

⭐️ Kencell N. said, "My students have LOVED this resource! There are so many good plays in it- we have used it for about a week! The content is engaging, the questions are TEK aligned, and there is enough energy and enthusiasm for the kids to be engaged! Could not recommend more!"

⭐️ Elementary Teacher's Pet said, "I loved this product! I hate teaching drama, but this made it so much fun. I loved the PowerPoint and the notes sheet that went with it. It was a great way to make sure the students were engaged and focused. I also really loved all the plays and the students loved acting them out."

⭐️ Julie F. said, "If you are looking for something a little different to teach drama -- this is it. The presentation slides are great, but start off similarly to so many I've seen - vocabulary words related to drama, then builds to structure of text, and THEN goes into features and poses interactive questions for the class. YES! The other practice activities (including a bunch of plays with question sets) and even 2 tests are exactly what the standards are looking for. I've bought so many drama resources looking for something like this!"
