Elements of Art Worksheets & Activities

These worksheet activities are located on the Google drive and are perfect for print and work from home visual art e-lessons. The bundle includes activities for 5 Elements of Art, including Texture, Value, Color, Space and Shape. Students learn how to shade and draw texture, draw negative space, create a color scheme design and design a shape collage.

1. ELEMENT OF TEXTURE

Students replicate textures using black and white photographic reference. Perfect to supplement any drawing lesson that requires students to apply knowledge of texture. Worksheets can be used a sub lessons, as enrichment to your art lessons or as min-lessons on their own. An essential for any art classroom.

Value scale and shading exercises teach students how to create three-dimensional fruit using the element of value.

3. ELEMENT OF COLOR

This element of color worksheet includes an addition to my popular color scheme activity and a second sheet for the students own design. Works best in conjunction with my Elements of Art Color Worksheet packet. They can be used as enrichment to your art lessons, min-lessons or substitute lessons. An essential for any art classroom.

4. ELEMENT OF SPACE

Students are shown examples of negative space through the use of silhouettes. They then draw the negative space surrounding three silhouettes to reveal the positive space. The last handout has them use the example provided but has them enlarge the drawing.

5. ELEMENT OF SHAPE

Students identify and draw shapes in Matisse's collage, “Anfitrite,” 1947. Then draw their own shapes inspired by the ocean. Finally students create their own underwater shape design then color using a color scheme of their choice.
