What educators are saying

This was one of my favorite activities. Kids are very good at differentiating when they have visuals so card sorts help.
I already had a resource that I usually used similar to this, but it was at a more advanced level that I needed for one of my 8th grade science classes. This was a bit simpler, and worked perfectly for my learning support class!

Description

This physical science activity helps students understand the differences between elements, compounds, and mixtures. They classify sixteen cards into piles of elements, compounds, and mixtures. Then they complete their student activity sheet to show their thinking and further distinguish between elements, compounds, and mixtures.

Each example card has both text and a picture, which is especially beneficial for ELL students. Look at the preview for more information.
