This pack was a labor of love! It was developed out of the need for spelling differentiation in our own classrooms. The differentiated lists follow the same pattern, making it easy for the teacher to hold spelling mini-lessons whole group while students apply the strategies with their own word lists. The format of our tests also make it a breeze for the teacher to administer differentiated tests at the same time!

This pack is a 30-week yearlong spelling unit. It includes 26 weeks of lists (52 lists in all) and has 4 weeks built in for random sampling. The packet contains in-depth explanation of how we implement this in our classrooms and unique, original practice pages for all lists.

In this pack you will find the following:

1) A 16 page overview explaining how we implement the components of this packet in our classrooms

2) Student Word List Cards which make it easy for students to practice their words anytime/anywhere and encourage constant review of past lists

3) Teacher Word List Cards which give you a glance at all word lists and prompts for tests at your fingertips

4) Word Wall Words - 130 word wall words (optional) to use if desired that are from the top 400 words students should be able to read/write fluently

5) Spelling Tests - 52 spelling tests (26 weeks for List A and List B) that are formatted to meet various learning styles with students writing down words called out, locating misspelled words in a sentence and correcting them, and identifying correctly spelled words among misspelled words. A pretest format and random sampling format are also included.

6) Word Sorts - 26 word sorts (one for each spelling list) for students to manipulate and highlight

7) Word Connections Games - 26 word connection games (one for each spelling list) that is perfect for differentiation since it can be played in various ways (reading the word, spelling the word, using the word in a sentence, and defining the word)

8) Word Graph-iti - 26 word graph-itis (one for each spelling list) that require students to read the weekly words in various fonts (so important in this techy world), sort them, and write them in categories. This is also a perfect activity for math integration! (Answer keys included for all of these)

9) Cursive Practice Pages - 52 cursive practice pages (one for each list separately) While students may not be required to learn cursive, second graders are always eager to do so! These pages are perfect for center practice or early finishers and will motivate students to practice those words!

10) A Spelling Homework Menu - this menu provides lots of options to students for practicing their spelling words in a variety of ways.

The following spelling patterns are addressed in this pack -

silent e, vowel teams, vowel digraphs, soft c & g, homophones, 2-syllable words (open), 2-syllable words (closed), k or ck, ch or tch, ge or dge, double consonants, irregular plural nouns, change y to i and add –es, irregular past tense, consonant +le, or/ar, er/ir/ur/ire, ear/air, ough/augh, igh/eigh, i before e except after c, contractions, prefixes (un/re/pre), suffixes (ful/less), comparative endings
