Description

This handout goes over the description of a students’ hearing loss. Usually the format is “bilateral profound sensorineural hearing loss.” But what does that mean to a professional that doesn’t work with the Deaf? Nothing. Use this to break down the jargon commonly used by audiological professionals.

Also included is a handout about the terms to use (and not use) to reference the student with hearing loss. This includes Big D Deaf, little d deaf, hard of hearing and hearing loss. Use this resource in your consults/in-services to establish a good understanding of a hearing loss description.
