Description

This is a great condensed summary of key events and people in deaf history between 1000 BC & 1800 AD. From ancient Hebrew law, to Plato & Aristotle, to Ponce de Leon, Martha's Vineyard and to Gallaudet.

This handout is a great study guide or reference for students. Students get to see that the roots of sign language and deaf history run deep. Students get to appreciate that there were some very important and often overlooked people who fought for deaf rights. This poster/handout recognizes those people and their contributions to language, education & human rights for the deaf.
