What educators are saying

This resource is a must have for English Learners and students with IEP. It helps them have a visual and keeps them focused.

Description

This It’s Okay to Be Different resource is a collection of writing activities. They guide students through the writing process by completing a writing project inspired by the book, It’s OK to be Different by Todd Parr. You can use this resource with his book or without to simply celebrate what makes us unique. It can also compliment anti-bullying lessons. Finally, it works as a way to celebrate Martin Luther King Day too.

I recently completed this activity with my third graders in school and I LOVE LOVE LOVE how the bulletin board turned out. I've gotten so many compliments on the colors and the content. The differentiated pages and templates that are included made it a perfect activity for both.

After editing with the teacher, the students wrote their final copies. I always try to culminate our writing projects with a related art project. We created colorful images in the style of Todd Parr after visiting his website.

WHAT IS INCLUDED:

brainstorming template to collect students' ideas

graphic organizer webs to organize students' paragraph writing

draft and final copy stationary for students to draft and publish their writing

simple sentence activity page with space to illustrate

craft directions for how to create the art project

pictures of the completed art project and bulletin board examples
