Counting Creatures: Halloween Counting Story, Song, Math and Literacy Activities

Counting Creatures is a captivating counting song and story about creatures at Halloween. Instrumental and sing-a-long movies are included, in addition to slides that can be used to print books in a variety of sizes. Math skills involve one to one correspondence, ordering, counting forward and backwards to 100 using different numerical patterns, forming groups of 10, graphing, matching, spinners for recording data with tally marks, graphing and a Counting Creatures 100s board, and discussions of using spinners for probability. Literacy skills involve visual clues for number words and phrases of the song, sequencing, rhyming skills, identification of singular and plural words, and editing of conventions, which can become quite sophisticated.
