What educators are saying
Description
If your students are like mine, they struggle with writing claim, evidence, and reasoning, or CER scientific arguments. Teaching students about CER can also be boring so these activities can help your students learn how to write CER's while having fun!
These are perfect for introducing students to CER. Students who have never written a CER will struggle, even with modeling of the technique. These activities are scaffolded so that your students will be able to write a CER with ease!
Activities and Resources Included:
- CER Powerpoint
- PDF version of the unit
- Semi-editable Powerpoint version of the unit
- CER posters
- CER doodle notes (filled in, guided, and blank versions)
- Mini posters for science notebooks with guided notes
- Anchor chart pieces
- CER reference wheel
- CER foldable
- 2 different graphic organizers
- CER sorting activity
- Two CER lesson plans to introduce students to the method (You choose which lesson version you prefer.) One lesson is songs from the 70's, 80's 90's, and 2000's and the other sampling candies.

Prep is quick and simple! Just print and go!
OTHER TEACHERS SAID....
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meaghan R. said, "This resource is amazing! I used the materials to introduce the CER process to all of my science classes this year. They were able to understand the process, and the practice provided really helped them practice."
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Heather W. said, "I love that there are multiple different ways to use this resource and there is a presentation to assist in implementing in class. The card sort is helpful, and so are the foldables- especially for my kids that need a little extra assistance in understanding CER. Thank you!"
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Jennifer B. said, "This was an awesome unit! My students ask to play songs from each decade still."
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Korin H. said, "I looked at lots of CER activities, and this one ended up being the best one that I bought! It was fun, and the kids enjoyed it. I teamed it up with the my dad is an alien commercial, and it was a full 45 minutes for the whole activity. It has been a great reference for my students as well when they complete their own CER's."
