This "Civics for All: 3-5 Part 1" resource is a companion to the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) curriculum, Passport to Social Studies. This curriculum resource is Lesson 1 of Part 1 for Grades 3-5. Lesson 1 of the Civics for All curriculum is designed to be modified and adapted to fit the needs of Remote Learning and all New York City classrooms.

Slides give guidance for you, too! I have added comments with teacher talk setting your lesson up for success. I use these notes for myself as well, because I can never remember what slide comes next. This makes them foolproof!
They are fully editable so you can add/change anything that you need to meet the needs of your classroom. I like to add a slide at the end of the lesson with "next steps" that may include their independent classwork assignment, their homework assignment, reminders about tests, or anything else you want to post to guide through the last part of the Social Studies period.
