This was a great activity to help students review what a plant cell is. The students were engaged and worked in groups to complete the assignment.
It was a great resource. I may change how different classes use it and approach the activity, but can be used for several grade levels!
Description

In this lesson, students will be given a mystery to solve, based on their knowledge of cells. To solve the mystery, they need to know the major differences between plant and animal cells. Students apply their knowledge to a "real-life" scenario in which they must classify cells as plant or animal. Students will record their conclusions in a forensic lab report similar to one that could be used in court. This is an excellent activity for the end of a unit on plant and animal cells.
Aligns to the following Tennessee State Science Standards:
SPI 0507.1.1 Identify the major parts of plant and animal cells such as the nucleus, cell membrane, cell wall, and cytoplasm.
CFU 0507.1.1 Label drawings of plant and animal cells.
