This interactive and engaging SmartBoard Unit (which will be updated before the 2024 election to reflect the current candidates for President and Vice President) is designed for teachers who have an actual SMART brand interactive whiteboard.
There are links to videos and a variety of activities, such as text reveal, true/false, sequencing, and draggable content. Students work in their packets to record responses.

The 60+ page Smart Notebook file is full of engaging animations to keep students engaged as you discuss the content. There are links to videos and a variety of activities throughout the file, such as text reveal, magic magnifying glass, true/false, sequencing, and draggable content.
Along with the self-checking SmartBoard file, there is an accompanying PDF file with a 40+-page student packet to use to follow along and fill in the blanks as the teacher leads the lesson on the SMARTBoard. (Answer key included)
Also included are a variety of extension activities:
1. 5 Interactive Follow-Up Activities: Vocabulary Match, Branches of Government Sort, It’s About Time, The “Dating” Game, and Government Tree Leaf Sorts.
2. Ballots for a classroom or school mock vote, and “I Voted Today” “stickers”.
3. Make Your Own Government Tree Craftivity: Students color and cut out the tree template, along with a variety of leaves, each printed with a responsibility of one branch of government. Students can first play as a sorting game, and then create a record of learning by gluing each leaf to its proper branch and mounting the tree on colored construction paper.
4. “Why is Voting Important?” writing prompt
5. “If I Were Elected President” writing activity: Students use a paragraph organizer to write about the top 3 things they would do if they were president. Includes dollar bill template for inserting student’s faces to display with final copies of the writing.
