Description

Building a relationship with interpreters and using them correctly and appropriately in a mainstream educational setting can sometimes be a challenge. This handout goes over SOME of the very many things that should be kept in mind when beginning to work with an interpreting team.

Tips included focus on engaging the student, giving the interpreter extra time to process and translate the information as well as developing a rapport and making sure they have enough time before material is given to students, etc.

Use this in an in-service/consult to inform teachers about the effects of allergy season and how it will affect them.
