Description

Want your PreCalculus or Trigonometry students to practice calculating arc length and finding the area of sectors? These sequencing activities will give your students engaging practice with determining the length of an arc and computing the area of sectors in circles using a given central angle and radius!

Two sequencing activities are included in this product.
- Activity 1: Calculating the length of an arc in a circle (arc length)
- Activity 2: Calculating the area of sectors in circles (sector area)

Please note: These activities were created for a high school PreCalculus class or a high school Trigonometry class. Angles in this activity are given in both degrees and radians and students are asked to round their answers to the nearest hundredth (no answers are given in terms of pi). Additionally, the pi button on the calculator was used to generate all answers. All of the questions are shown in the preview. Check it out to determine if these activities is appropriate for your students!

To complete the activity, students will start by calculating the arc length or sector area using the given angle and radius on their student worksheet. If the computation is done correctly, their answer will be at the top of a card on the next page. Students cut the card with the correct answer on it out and paste it into the next available spot on their worksheet (scissors and glue required). Learners then find the arc length or sector area of the intercepted arc on this new card and continue on with the activity. Students are finished when they have pasted all cards onto their worksheet in the appropriate order.

This no-prep resource includes directions, a template, cards for students to paste in sequential order, and a worked-out answer key.

This activity aligns perfectly with my Triangular and Circular Trigonometric Functions Unit. Click here to check it out!!
