What educators are saying

I used this review during the first week of the year for my College Algebra students to refresh on past concepts. It was helpful for me to see where they struggled so I could plan accordingly. They found it challenging, but fun!
This was great to review for the final exam. We spent 1 day in class on each challenge. I love how each challenge has a different type of puzzle, so the students don't get bored.

Description

This Algebra 2 End of Year Escape Room Activity is a fun and challenging way for students to review concepts taught throughout the year in Algebra 2. This particular activity includes 8 challenge puzzles, each revealing a 3-digit, 4-digit, 4-letter, or 5-letter code. Detailed directions on how to prep and assemble challenges are included. A student recording sheet for codes and suggested methods for checking codes is also included. A prize is recommended for students who successfully crack all the codes.

Topics Included:

Challenge A: Simplifying Radicals (includes expressions with rational exponents) and Complex Numbers

Challenge B: Simplifying Rational Expressions and Complex Fractions

Challenge C: Quadratic and Polynomial Equations

Challenge D: Exponential and Logarithmic Equations

Challenge E: Radical and Rational Equations

Challenge F: Operations with Functions, Compositions of Functions

Challenge G: Characteristics of Functions and Graphs (domain, range, end behavior, x-intercepts, y-intercept, zeros, asymptotes, etc.)

Challenge H: Sequences and Series

How long does this activity take? The challenge puzzles are independent of each other so challenges can be removed to save time or differentiate. If using all eight challenges, plan to use several periods (3-4) or two blocks to complete this activity.

Types of Graphs Included in Challenge G: Absolute Value, Quadratic, Cubic, Square Root, Cube Root, Exponential, Logarithmic, Reciprocal, and one Piecewise Function that includes a linear and quadratic function
