Description

Enrich your students' learning with this project based learning unit that focuses on addition and subtraction within 20. Students work with peers or on their own to pretend to open a donut shop This project encourages teamwork. It provides deeper understanding of the relationship between addition and subtraction, as well as introduces place value.

This hands-on activity walks them through the steps of opening a donut shop. Students create their own donut shop, menu and advertisement. They take orders from "costumers," and create an inventory of the flavors they sold the most.

This resource includes:

  • Introduction/ Explain project
  • Naming the shop/truck & Advertisement
  • Menu and Specials
  • Donut order & packaging sheets (up to 8)
  • Graphing of sales
  • 3 extension activities
