What educators are saying

Lovely complete unit of inquiry with every subject integrated. Was great to use with my PYP4 class and the possibility to make it a little harder for a PYP5 class if needed. If you are just starting out and need help with planning your units this is a great resource to help you before you go solo.
Huge resource with many graphic organizers and beautiful vivid pictures. I haven't done all the lessons as there are 162 pages however the lesson on the influence on habitats adaptations was great. My students loved creating their 3-D models.

Description

UPDATED: New and improved pictures, graphic organisers and hands on critical thinking activities. Science experiments galore in this IB PYP complete unit of inquiry! And flipables, foldables, gardening and group work, webquests, neighbourhood nature walks, and the science goes on and on. Kids love inquiry based learning and there are over 150 pages full of hands on, concept based inquiry that engages and provokes with authentic, hands on learning in this complete, interactive science unit of inquiry. I created this for our IB PYP theme of How the World Works focusing on the related concepts of adaptations, scientific principles ( investigation & exploration)& interdependence with our central idea of:

Living things adapt in a variety of ways for life in their environment.

Lines of Inquiry:

>Classifying changes in living things

>Influence of habitat on survival

>How human’s actions play a role

You will find:

  • Interactive notebook activities,
  • Science experiments that involve hands and eyes and hypothesising.
  • Task cards for math, literacy and science
  • Non fiction literacy articles for reading and writing.
  • Collaborative group work tasks
  • Formative assessments and homework
  • Summative assessment
  • Interactive web sites and cool learning videos
  • And much more besides.

Designed for my 4th graders, this unit can be used with 3rd -6th grade.

There are many more IB PYP units, ideas and resources found in my store and on my blog at www.pypteachingtools.com

Enjoy!
