Description
Looking for a comprehensive yearlong bundle of resources for AP Language and Composition? This full year AP Lang curriculum package contains 36 weeks of outlined instruction focused on rhetorical analysis, argumentative techniques, synthesizing information, historical connections, and extensive exam preparation. Not only will students study a plethora of historical texts and documents (speeches, advertisements, cartoons, propaganda, memoir, and more), but they will learn how to critically view history and present-day society in meaningful ways, all while preparing to conquer their AP exam at the end of the year.
Q1 Focus: Rhetorical Analysis and Early America
In quarter one, students will learn about the rhetorical situation, rhetorical strategies (appeals and devices), elements of satire, and the Rhetorical Analysis portions of the AP exam. They will analyze Early American texts (i.e The Declaration of Independence, Letter from Columbus, City Upon A Hill, and Liberty or Death), write rhetorical analysis essays, tackle rigorous AP-style multiple-choice quizzes, and create a satirical newspaper article. Check out the included resources, linked below!

First, they will practice their newfound knowledge with speeches from Steve Jobs, Abraham Lincoln, Queen Elizabeth, and Winston Churchill. Then, they will delve into three paired-texts units, with a focus on 1800's America. They will travel through the Trail of Tears, Women's Rights, and Narrative Non-fiction, featuring lyrical master Virginia Woolf.
